In 2003, GuitarLamp.com artist Dan Leap was a successful candidate for the Merriam Kansas, City Council. Leap and his blues band organized a campaign cruise and played throughout his Ward. Election night, Dan's rock band Pompous Jack played a victory concert to a packed audience at America’s Pub in Westport MO. WDAF-TV4 covered the victory concert live during the 9 & 10 o’clock evening news. Click here to see the video

The next Pumpkin stories are funny! KYYS 99.7 Radio Station morning show Max, Tanna & Moffitt did a live broadcast from GuitarLamp.com in October 2004. The City of Merriam sent the pumpkin's owner Dan Leap a $500 fine/court summons to make him remove his pumpkin. Hundreds of people stopped by to sign the save the pumpkin petition, the mayor later dismissed the charges.
